Current Role

Damian Flynn is the Infrastructure Architect for Lionbridge Technologies, Corporate IT team; and is also currently Acting Manager of the Core Infrastructure Group. Since joining Lionbridge in 1998, has evolved responsibilities from Site IT Management, trough Global IT Manager for the VeriTest Division, and in recent years focusing on utilizing technologies to improve business processes. Damian is responsible for solutions covering multiple technologies from Active Directory, Exchange, Remote Desktop, Rights Management, and many others including Monitoring, Storage, Scripting and Virtualisation; while sharing experiences and educating colleagues with documentation, training and internal blogging on topic covering best practices, process improvements and internal solution architectures.

About Damian

Damian’s first computer course in programming “Basic” was at the age of 10, on the Commodore 64, and by 1993 gained a Diploma in Computer Science. Before starting his first job as a software developer, Damian completed a number of projects for local businesses, and within 3 years was working for the GenCorp Group’s, ‘Henniges Elastomers’ Plant in Ballina, Ireland as their IT Manager, working on Netware 3.11, Database development, and ERP solutions, while also working with Microsoft Ireland, participated in Launch Showcases for early adoption migrations to Windows NT 4.0!

Current Projects

Currently, Damian is focused on multiple projects and technologies aimed at expanding Lionbridge internal Private Cloud investments, architecting and building a scalable infrastructure for the companies SaaS product’s, and involved with many Microsoft Futures and Advisory councils, Adoption Programs, and Virtualisation and System Centre offerings.

Community Events

Recently Damian has engaged in more community events and providing “Tech Doctor” support to local business, while also launching a public Blog for sharing guides and knowledge on all things Technology & Microsoft, with emphasis on Virtualisation and Private Cloud utilizing Microsoft Tools, you can also find Damian lurking around the MS Support Forums from time to time …

Spare Time

When Damian is not working, he is out and about entertaining with some DJ/VJ activities, near his home in Ballina, Ireland; or helping others with Smart Home technologies working on Lighting, Distributed Audio, HD Video, Security and other Automation solutions; with experience in Control4, CQC and most recently as a contributing developer for device drivers for CodeCore Technologies, “Elve” (.NET 3.5 Automation Engine).
